Computex 2004, Day Three - VTF2004 Computex, Taipei, Taiwan, 3 June 2004 - Update 2
Computex 2004, Taipei, Taiwan. Today we're
reporting directly from VIA's Technology
Forum, and will be updating this page occasionally (courtesy of a handy
wireless Mesh
network from Locustworld) when we see something interesting...
Wenchi Chen's Keynote
Personal Assistant Robot
Secure Wireless Streaming Media
Moxi Interface
Wenchi Chen, the president and CEO of VIA Technologies, opened
VTF 2004 with a keynote speech entitled "Digital Brilliance". An
appearance was made by a prototype assistant robot built at National Chiao
Tung University. The EPIA-powered robot was controlled by a PDA, and features
face recognition and tracking facilities. Two VIA-based DVR
PCs were shown - the Moxi
Media Center from Digeo, and the
EPIA SP powered
T4-400 from
Tranquil. VIA's Tim Handley demonstrated full screen secure streaming full
screen video over a wireless network using an innocuous jumble
of components,
including a C5P
core C3 processor to deal with the encryption/decryption. The final picture
above is of the impressive Moxi interface - the 2nd generation of this
device will be Nehemiah / CN400 based.
We'll end with some slides from VIA's Steven S. Lee, which
show the direction that the Mini-ITX and Nano-ITX platforms will be taking.
