Recommended board (1): The MSI IM-945GC-A has 4x SATA 3Gbps connectors and 1x IDE connector, and is powered by a fanless Atom 230 processor running at 1.6GHz. To use the IM-945GC-A with a 2.5in IDE drive and a Slimline Optical drive, you will need this 2.5in cable adapter and this power splitter cable.
Recommended board (2): The Jetway Atom JNC92-230 and dual core Atom JNC92-330 have 2x SATA connectors and 1x IDE connector, but 4 more SATA 3Gbps connectors can be added with this daughterboard, giving 6x SATA connectors in total.
Recommended board (3): The EPIA SN has 4x SATA II connectors, and comes in 1.0GHz and 1.8GHz variants. Please note if slimline CDROM is used, DIMM slot 1 is OK, but DIMM slot 2 requires RAM of 30mm or lower in depth. To use the SN with a 2.5in IDE drive and a Slimline Optical drive, you will need this adapter and this cable. Please also note the SN has a 2.0mm pitch USB pin header, so is not directly compatible with the card reader or front panel USB 2.0 (though the board does have 4x USB 2.0 ports on its rear panel). Add the "USB Adapter Cable for EPIA SN" to the shopping basket to add compatibility with either the front panel USB or the optional card reader. Email us for reduced postage if you have already purchased the Chenbro/SN combination from us. EPIA SN USB Cable Manual
Recommended board (4): The Jetway JNC62K has 4x SATA II connectors and 1x IDE connector, and supports socket AM2 mobile AMD processors. You will need a low profile heatsink. To use the JNC62K with a 2.5in IDE drive and a Slimline Optical drive, you will need this 2.5in cable adapter and this power splitter cable.
Supported boards: MSI IM-945GC-A, Jetway JNC62K, J9F2, J7F2, EPIA EK, CN, EX, many other Mini-ITX boards with SATA. Number of drives that can be connected will vary according to SATA ports on your choice of board. Jetway J7F2 and J7F5M expansion modules are supported. Also consider IDE ports if 2.5in and/or slimline optical are required - some boards do not have IDE at all.
Partially supported boards: J7F5M and J7F4 require Ultra Low Profile RAM if slimline CDROM is used; EPIA EN does not support slimline CDROM at all due to position of board heatsink; EPIA CN has non-standard USB pin headers not suitable for card reader; If a slimline optical drive is to be used with an Intel DG45FC you will require a SATA slimline adapter and ultra low profile DDR2 memory (email us before ordering).
Not supported boards: EPIA M, ML, MII, other Mini-ITX boards without SATA (unless SATA II PCI Card and riser is used - see below)
Recommended software: Openfiler or Windows Home Server.
