Building an ION powered HTPC with XBMC
Setting your system to boot from USB
This page is specific to the Zotac ION range of motherboards. Other motherboards may be configured differently.
Requirements:
- Your assembled ION system
- Your XBMC Live USB key
- A Keyboard
- A TV or Monitor
Instructions:
1. Ensure your system is off
2. Connect a USB or PS/2 keyboard to your system.
3. Insert your XBMC Live USB Key into an available USB port.
4. Power on the system, when you see the following screen start tapping the Delete key on your keyboard.
5. If all went well you should be presented with the following screen:
5. Press your RIGHT-ARROW key on your keyboard until the "Boot" section is highlighted. Now select the "Hard Disk Drives" section by pressing Enter.
6. Press Enter again to select your "1st Drive".
7. Move the curser to the entry which begins with "USB:" by using the Up-Arrow and Down-Arrow keys. Press the Enter key to select your drive.
8. Confirm that the entry beginning with "USB:" is now at the top of the list.
9. Once confirmed press the F10 key, [Ok] should be highlighted already, now simply press Enter to save your new settings and reboot!
10. At this point you might wish to Test your XBMC Live USB Stick or move straight to Installing XBMC onto your HDD.
