Building an ION powered Home Theatre PC with XBMC 10.0
Installing XBMC to HDD (or SSD)
Requirements:
- Your assembled ION system
- Your XBMC Live USB key
- Your BIOS set to boot from USB
- A Keyboard
- A TV or Monitor
Instructions
- With the system off, insert your XBMC Live USB key into an available USB port (any front or back USB ports is suitable).
- Select your USB Key from the boot device list.
- When presented with the following screen, ensure you choose "Install XBMCLive to disk"

- Select your language (we are choosing English):

- Choose your region:

- The XBMC installer will now begin.

- Choose "Guided - use entire disk.
Warning : Any existing data on your mini-itx system will now be wiped. If you have any doubts do not proceed past this point!

- Just select the disk as shown below:

- The install is warning you that your disk is about to be erased. If your sure, select yes and press enter.

- The XBMC installer will now put a filesystem onto your hard-disk and begin copying files.

- The next section will ask you to create a user account for remote/local administration. You can choose anything you like here but I recommend that you choose "xbmc" as this used to be the default in previous versions of XBMC. This means that any documentation you find which was written before XBMC 10.0 will still make sense.

- If you chose "xbmc" on the previous section then just take the defaults here.

- You will now be asked to choose a password. You are free to choose whatever you like here, for the sake of simplicity I have chosen "xbmc" which is pretty poor security but its easier on the memory-banks.

- If you do choose a weak password the installer will warn you, you can either choose a stronger password or just choose <Yes> and continue. We've chosen to live with a weak password.

- You don't really need to know the technical details of this next screen. It's asking you where you want to put the GRUB bootloader. Just leave it as the default (in this case and most-likely yours this will say /dev/sda) and press enter.

- Your installation is now complete! once you select <Continue> in the following box your system will shutdown and power-off. This is normal.

- Once your system is off remove your XBMC Installation USB stick, then power-on your system. Your machine should begin to boot XBMC.

- If all has gone to plan you should be presented with the following home page in XBMC.
