Building an ION powered Home Theatre PC with XBMC 10.0
Enable Windows File-Server
Note : This is a moderately difficult module. Once you have completed this module you should be able to copy files to your XBMC system from a Windows PC or a MAC.
Requirements:
You must have installed XBMC Live to your local disk for this module to work.
Your XBMC system needs an Internet connection.
You will need a computer to copy the files from
Note : Only perform this section if you have quite a large hard-disk in your XBMC system (160GB+).
Instructions:
1. Open a command line shell
2. type the following commands (only type the parts in gold):
sudo apt-get update
If you are prompted for a password use the one you set up during your xbmc installation.

sudo apt-get install samba

sudo nano /etc/samba/smb.conf

Use your page-down key to move the cursor to the end of the file

add the following (after the line that reads ";postexec = /bin/umount /cdrom");
[xbmc]
comment = XBMC Share
path = /home/xbmc
force user = xbmc
inherit permissions = yes
read only = No
guest ok = Yes

Now press the Control & X keys together, followed by the Y key and then press Enter to save the updated file.
Next, if installing XBMC 10.0 restart the samba service with this command:
sudo service smbd restart
Or if installing XBMC 9.11 restart with this command:
sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart

Add some movie content
Now on your Windows machine, open up "My computer" or "Computer". Click on the address bar and type \\xbmclive

Double-click the xbmc share

If installing XBMC 10.0 you should find 4 folders ready for you to deposit your Music, Pictures, TV Shows and Videos.

If installing XBMC 9.11 please create a new folder by clicking on the New Folder button and rename it to whatever you like. We have chosen videos

Now copy your legal movie content into the Videos folder. Always use the film's title and then the date in brackets.

If installing XBMC 10.0 you will now be able to view your new content in the Videos section of XBMC. Please skip to the next module.
XBMC 9.11 only - Add the folder into XBMC
Now we need to add the folder into XBMC. From the home screen choose VIDEOS.

Select Add Source

Select BROWSE

Select Home Folder

Select videos (the folder we just created)

Now choose OK

Select SET CONTENT

Change the content type - e.g. (MOVIES), and select Scan recursively (you can also select Run automated scan if you like)

Now select OK

Go back to the Home page, move the selector to VIDEOS and press the Right Arrow, then select (for example) MOVIES

Optional : You might like to change your view at this point, we prefer MEDIA INFO 2

Congratulations, XBMC should now be ready to use!
