I used 1" x 1.5" pine stock to make the mounting brackets for the motherboard. The height of the brackets moves the board out into the flat area of the Globe for the back-panel cutout.

The hard drive is mounted to the side of the Globe with screws and a spacer on each between the drive and Globe to make clearance for ease of connection for the power and ribbon cables. The motherboard assembly is mounted with screws through the Globe into the mounting brackets.

This close-up shows the motherboard mounting brackets. Note the notch-out on the length of the bracket creates a raised platform mount area. I added a plastic spacer between the mount and the board for additional clearance. I also had to bevel the ends of the brackets to fit the contour of the Globe.
