7. Software

The box runs Windows 98SE because I only had 1GB of disk space and 64MB of RAM. I use WinDVD for playing DVD/S-VCD and BSPlayer for MPEG/DivX/VCD. Winamp handles all the different Audio Codecs. The display is wired to the parallel port and managed by lcdprint.exe. I'm working on a better way for that but I still haven't found any software that I really like. CDDetect checks the CD-Drive for new CD's and runs the specified application depending on the file-type found. If Windows has booted up I just insert a CD and the movie Starts. All other things can be managed with the infrared control.

The EPIA board is designed to switch to TV-Out if a TV is connected and no VGA Display is found. This makes it possible to manage the BIOS on a TV. Even PAL/NTSC and over/underscan can be changed in the BIOS.
