Looking Inside the Case

Opening the case reveals an internal layout almost identical to the 2677. The small twin fans to cool the Hard Drive and PCI card are the same - though initial product shots showed a large fan set further back. Maybe they changed their minds with this one.

The CD drive cage and Hard Drive cage are the same as on the 2677...

..the DC-DC converter underneath the cage is the same...

...but on removal the full glory of the additional USB electronics is revealed

The LAN Activity LED and Front Switches

The long yellow/white cable is marked "LAN LED". Unless we're missing something, there's no header for a LAN activity light on the current EPIA motherboards, so this must be for when an Ethernet PCI card with one is plugged into the board. As there is already Ethernet built-in, this scenario will probably only occur when the EPIA is being used as a cable modem firewall. Perhaps this is for the forthcoming EPIA-M?

Here's the LEDs close up. It's quite difficult to photograph black things.

And again, this time with the slim rectangular power and reset buttons. Morex obviously got bored with the round ones on the 2677.
