Wenchi Chen, the president and CEO of VIA Technologies, opened
VTF 2004 with a keynote speech entitled "Digital Brilliance". An
appearance was made by a prototype assistant robot built at National Chiao
Tung University. The EPIA-powered robot was controlled by a PDA, and features
face recognition and tracking facilities. Two VIA-based DVR
PCs were shown - the Moxi
Media Center from Digeo, and the
EPIA SP powered
T4-400 from
Tranquil. VIA's Tim Handley demonstrated full screen secure streaming full
screen video over a wireless network using an innocuous jumble
of components,
including a C5P
core C3 processor to deal with the encryption/decryption. The final picture
above is of the impressive Moxi interface - the 2nd generation of this
device will be Nehemiah / CN400 based.
We'll end with some slides from VIA's Steven S. Lee, which
show the direction that the Mini-ITX and Nano-ITX platforms will be taking.
